Math Center Fun!

It has been a crazy couple of weeks in South Carolina! We've had snow and ice, two earthquakes, and now it is going to be in the 70's. Mother Nature needs to make up her mind! All of these snow days have given me time to reflect on teaching practices, as we move on into testing season.

Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach. Growing up I struggled in math. I like to make sure that each of my students don't struggle and learn different strategies to help them succeed. When I teach math I like to do a quick 10-15 minute lesson on a skill. After the lesson, I give them five to ten questions to apply what they have learned. I call these problems a quick check because I can assess who has mastered the skill and who needs extra help. After they have completed the quick check, we check over the answers as a class. Students who have mastered the skill move on to math centers. Students who need extra help get to meet with me. I like using this model in my classroom because it gives me time to meet the needs of all of my students. I can challenge those students who have mastered a skill, give extra practice to students who understand the skill, and work with those students who are still mastering the skill.

I have created many math centers while teaching and have posted them to my TeachersPayTeachers store. Feel free to check out any of the math center packs below.

Freebie Friday

Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but this week went by so quickly. I am exhausted and ready for some quality time with my hubby and sweet baby girl! She is growing up so fast, and I love spending this precious time with her.
This week I am linking up with Teaching Blog Addict for Freebie Friday.  I love all of the great freebies available on this blog! It is such a great way to get new ideas and teaching strategies.
I love playing I Have, Who Has games with my students in the classroom. These games are great because everyone gets to participate, and they have to listen carefully while playing. I have used these games in math and decided it would be fun to create some for different reading comprehension skills. I created different I Have, Who Has games for the following comprehension skills:
-Cause and Effect
-Making Inferences
-Story Elements
-Informational Text Features
-Fact and Opinion
-Context Clues
-Figurative Language
-Main Idea and Supporting Details
-Problem and Solution
-Author's Purpose
This week I thought that I would share the first set I created on cause and effect. You can get this freebie by clicking here.

I hope you enjoy using this game in your classroom! My students really enjoy this fun activity. If you like this set, you can purchase my complete Reading Strategy I Have, Who Has Game Pack by visiting my TeachersPayTeachers store.

I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
